Your Guide to Getting the Most Out of Deep Roots

October is almost upon us and Deep Roots is just around the corner! This festival is one of the best things about our little town and there’s just so much to see and do. For a first timer, it can be overwhelming; four downtown streets are completely blocked off to hold it all!  We’re here to tell you how to get the most out of your Deep Roots Saturday, October 26, and to make sure you don’t miss a thing.

Deep Roots Festival

1. Tickets

You can’t do any sort of festival right unless you get your tickets. Tickets to Deep Roots are always general admission and give you access to ALL areas and activities the festival has to offer for the duration of the event. Pre-sale tickets will be available starting October 1st through October 19th at participating downtown businesses and Milledgeville Main Street. Can’t manage to make it to town in advance? No worries. Gate admission is always available too. Prices for admission are as follows:

Pre-sale: $6 for individual, $6 each 4 or more

Gate Admission: $8 for individual, $6 each 4 or more

After 5 PM: $15 for individual, $15 each 4 or more

All kids 10 & under will also receive a kids zone pass with admission!

Deep Roots Artist Market

2. Vendors

One of the most enjoyable parts of Deep Roots is walking around in the fall air and seeing all of the local creations on display. Hundreds of regional artists will have their work and products for you to browse and purchase. There’s so much to look at, it’s easy to spend your entire day in the market.

In addition, our downtown merchants will be open offering an abundance of shopping from specialty and antique shops to the newest clothing and gift boutiques. Make sure you have plenty of spending money because you’re going to want to take some pieces of Milledgeville home!

3. Food & Drink

What’s a good festival without street vendors? Whether your favorite festival fix is polish sausage, funnel cake, or fried oreos, we have you covered! In addition to street vendors, the downtown also has plenty of food options with over 18 restaurants in town. Try The Brick or Amici for some tasty wings and pizza or pop in Georgia Bob’sCravings, or Barberitos for a quick bite. Downtown businesses will be open and ready for you to get a taste of just about everything!

We saved the best news for last! During Deep Roots, the City of Milledgeville allows attendees to carry any beer they purchase from a local business around the downtown in a cup. Cheers to that!

4. Activities

In addition to all the food, shopping, and music (don’t worry; we’re getting there!), there are also a number of activities going on throughout the day to keep you busy. If you’re hungry, stop by the Barbecue Cook Off, an official Georgia Barbecue Association sanctioned event. Then, head to the Old Capital Car Club’s Open Car Show to see some beautiful examples of engineering. You can even register your own if you have one of these vintage treasures! The best cars will even receive awards! If you brought some kiddos along with you, swing on by the kids zone so they work out all that extra energy. You certainly won’t be struggling to find things to do with all of these activities!

5. Music

Deep Roots is famous for its great live performers and this year’s line-up is no exception. In addition to a community stage featuring local artists, the mainstage line-up consists of 5 different artists that are bound to please everyone in the family. Performances start at 5:00 and the party doesn’t stop until midnight. In order, the artists performing are: Blair Crimmins and the Hookers, AJ Ghent, Larkin Poe, Castlecomer, and Ripe. You can find each of these artists on Apple music and Spotify if you want to check them out before the concert!

See y’owl there!
