Lakeside this Labor Day

In Milledgeville time off means time on the water. Swimming, wind-in-your-hair, jumping-waves kind of time. Good news, Labor Day weekend is next week, which means an extra day off on the weekend and time for some fun. Here are plenty of ideas to ensure you have fun celebrating Labor Day in Milledgeville.

Lake Sinclair rafts jump

Grab your towel and floats and spend the day swimming at Rocky Creek Park. The park is open from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. The park houses a beach, a fishing pier and a boat ramp for easy access to the lake. Restrooms and vending machines are available.

Lake Sinclair boating

In need of a boat? Sinclair Marina, off of Hwy 441, has a fleet of modern, well-maintained watercraft for rent at great prices. Whether you want to fish, meander about soaking up the sun, or hit the lake for a day of skiing and tubing, they have the boat for you.

Lake Sinclair jet ski

JereShai Lakeside RV Park offers multiple ways to spend your day of fun on Lake Sinclair. There are three pontoon boats and nine jet skis available for rent. Renting and pricing are by the hour with a two-hour minimum requirement. Life jackets are provided with each jet ski rental, and safety precautions must be discussed prior to riding.

Have you tried the latest craze of flying in the air?! Central Georgia Flyboarding provides guided flyboarding tours on Lake Sinclair. Flyboarding is a water sport that harnesses the water pressure of a jet ski to shoot the flyer out of the water and into the air. All ages are welcome to fly.

Lake SInclair Kayaking

Looking for a slower pace? Mac’s Yaks Kayak Rentals provides affordable kayak rentals with quality service. Rent a single or double kayak for a day on the lake or river and have it transported directly to you.

If you are feeling balanced (and brave) stand-up paddle board rentals are available deliveries for full or half days from downtown Milledgeville-based Oconee Outfitters. They also provide kayaks and canoes for rental, as well as delivery service to Lake Sinclair and the Oconee River.

The Green Market

Be sure to start your weekend off with a favorite Saturday morning tradition for the family. The Green Market is a locally grown, sustainably produced vegetables, fruit, meat, bread, preserves and plants farmers market. The kids will love spending time in Kid’s Corner and you grab the delicious essentials for the cookout. “Hard to believe such a small town has such an impressive Green Market.” – Cynthia Alby via Facebook.
