It’s been a long, demanding week, and let’s be honest, you’re exhausted. What you really need is a girl’s night out! So let us give you a few ideas for a Girlfriend Getaway with the First Lady of Georgia… or just a really awesome date with your sweetheart! You never have to leave the historic downtown area to have a wonderful time. Follow our plan, or come up with your own – either way, you’re sure to have a great time in Milledgeville. For a full list of businesses to assist in planning your itinerary, visit our website.
5:00 p.m. — Coffee at Blackbird – Grab a specialty latte, such as the sweet, nutty Coca Mocha Nut, at the local coffee shop to give you just the right amount of energy for a night on the town with your girls. You might even decide to stick around the warm, inviting atmosphere for a little while – we can’t deny it’s hard to leave such a pretty place with comfy couches AND WiFi!
Next, Hit the Shops – Historic downtown Milledgeville is full of locally-owned shops and boutiques. Slip into the French Vill’edge, right next to Blackbird Coffee, to try on some classy dresses that will have you looking like a true Southern Belle. Or maybe your taste is more Jack & Darcy (they sell TOMS shoes!) or the personalized items at The 42nd Floor – whatever you like, we have it here. Most shops close around 6 or 7 though, so don’t be late!
7:00 p.m. — Dinner at Aubri Lane’s – Wine & Dine in the building that was first occupied in 1884 by the Milledgeville Banking Company. Share an appetizer of Prince Edward Island mussels, treat yourself to a pan-seared duck breast and convince yourself you’re staying true o your diet with the Heirloom Tomato Salad — all accompanied by a nice glass (or two) of wine, of course.
8:30 p.m. – Dessert at SweeTreats – Head across the street and ‘round the corner to satisfy your sugar cravings. One of downtown Milledgeville’s newest additions, SweeTreats has the perfect ice cream/frozen yogurt and topping combination for anyone. So grab a cup of chocolate froyo with peanut butter and cookie dough mixed in – you know you want to.
9:00 p.m. – Check into the SoHo Lofts – Located just around the corner from SweeTreats, these loft-style suites offer a beautiful and luxurious place to spend the night away from stress and responsibility. There are four different themed rooms (Savannah, Madison, Kenya and New Orleans), so be sure to book in advance, http://soholoftsga.com/booking/, so you are sure to get the one that fits you best.
The night doesn’t have to be over! If you love to party, many of the restaurants downtown come back to life from 10 pm to 2am with trivia nights, karaoke, dancing and live music. If you’re more the mellow type, head back over to Blackbird to grab a calming tea, or walk around the beautiful Georgia College campus to wind down before you head back to bed at the SoHo Lofts.
Carry the Girl’s Night Out over into the morning with antique shopping downtown! Explore the history behind the items found in The Red Door and Old Capital Treasures, or pick up some great gifts in The Lemon Tree and Eclectic. With all the friendly people you’ll find in these shops, you might find yourself wanting to spend another night!
Last but not least, relax with a massage from the ladies at Charmed Salon & Spa. You’re sure to head home rejuvenated and happy as you laugh until you can’t breathe over the memories made in your new favorite city. We can’t wait to see you here!
